Feed Pellet Binder Selection Guide: Comparing Gelatin Binder, Lignosulfonate, BERDA and GUMMY

Choosing a pellet binder usually starts with a problem on the line, not with a product name. A pellet that breaks too easily may be affected by the formula, moisture, conditioning or die condition as much as by the binder itself.

Gelatin binder, lignosulfonate-based materials, BERDA and GUMMY can all be worth reviewing. The better question is which one fits the formula and the production target at hand. High-fat formulas, changing raw materials and water-stability requirements can lead to different answers.

A small side-by-side run is often more useful than a long specification comparison. Keep the normal formula as a reference, change one condition at a time, and look at production behavior as well as the finished pellets.
